Fire Emergency Services Authority (FESA) WAERN Project

The Western Australian Emergency Radio Network (WAERN) Project is a FESA initiative endorsed by the State Government with the primary objective being to implement a State wide interoperable radio network for FESA Emergency Response Groups as well as other State Government agencies such as the Department of Environment and Conservation (DEC).

Under the WAERN Project and in conjunction with DEC, over 300 VHF High Band Repeaters, nearly 8,000 Dual Band mobile radios and over 1,300 Hand Held radios will be implemented across the State.

Current Status

While FESA has worked closely with DEC throughout the project, the two agencies have worked independently in terms of implementation. The FESA WAERN Project team has completed repeater installations in the Great Southern and South West and is now moving into the Goldfields/Midlands region.
